Frequently Asked Questions

How long are appointments?

Standard therapy appointments are 50-60 minutes in duration.

Assessment appointments may vary depending on the type of assessment and your child's age. Some assessments require multiple sessions. We will outline the expected time commitment before proceeding.

Parent-only consultations are also available where appropriate.

Do I need a referral?

A referral is not required to book an appointment privately.

However, if you wish to claim a Medicare rebate, you will need:

  • A valid Mental Health Care Plan
  • A referral letter from your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist

Please ensure your referral is provided prior to or at your first appointment.

How many sessions will my child need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your child's needs and goals.

Some children benefit from short-term, focused intervention (6-10 sessions), while others may require longer-term support. We will discuss recommendations and review progress regularly.

Can I claim a Medicare rebate?

With a valid Mental Health Care Plan under the Better Access initiative, eligible clients may receive a Medicare rebate for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year.

Rebates are processed after full payment of the session fee. Rebate amounts depend on the clinician's qualifications and registration status. Please contact our team for current rebate information.

Do you accept NDIS funding?

We provide services for self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants.

Therapy and assessment services are aligned with your child's NDIS goals. Please contact us to discuss availability and funding arrangements.

What does an assessment involve?

Assessments typically include:

  • A parent interview and developmental history
  • Standardised testing sessions with your child
  • Questionnaires (parents and teachers, where appropriate)
  • A feedback session
  • A comprehensive written report

We will clearly outline the assessment process, timeframes and fees before proceeding.

How long does it take to receive a report?

Report timeframes vary depending on the complexity of the assessment. In most cases, written reports are provided within 2-4 weeks following the final assessment session.

If a report is required urgently, please discuss this with us prior to booking.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of 24 business hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 business hours' notice, or non-attendance without notice, may incur the full session fee.

This policy ensures fairness to families on our waitlist and allows us to offer appointments to others in need.

Do you have a waitlist?

At times, there may be a waitlist for therapy or assessment services.

If we are unable to offer an immediate appointment, we will:

  • Place you on our waitlist
  • Provide an estimated timeframe where possible
  • Offer referral options if your child requires more immediate support

Please contact our team to discuss current availability.

Do you offer Telehealth appointments?

Yes. Telehealth appointments are available for therapy, parent consultations and some components of assessment.

Telehealth may be suitable for families in regional areas or for those requiring scheduling flexibility.
